Matthew Broderick, Sally Hawkins, and Martin Freeman have boarded Pretend I’m Not Here, the new feature from BAFTA-winning director Simon Bird (The Inbetweeners). Cornerstone is set to launch international sales for the film at the Cannes market next month. CAA Media Finance is handling sales for the U.S.

Based on Hans Keilson’s novella Comedy in a Minor Key, Pretend I’m Not Here follows an ordinary Dutch couple who hide a Jewish perfume salesman during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. As the arrangement stretches on, the emotional and practical challenges of living in close quarters with a stranger begin to reshape the trio’s dynamic in unexpected ways.

Pretend I’m Not Here is a Parkville Pictures and Lemming Film co-production developed with BBC Film with Cecilia Frugiuele and Olivier Kaempfer (Polite Society, The Miseducation of Cameron Post) producing. Production is scheduled to begin later this year in the UK and the Netherlands.

Broderick is represented by CAA, Eric Kranzler at Entertainment 360 and attorney Barry Tyerman. Hawkins is represented by CAA and attorney Jodi Peikoff. Freeman is represented by CAA, Modern Collective in the UK, attorney Felker Toczek Suddleson McGinnis Ryan LLP, and Premier PR.
